Park Path Closure

Starting July 29, a major portion of the regional trail through Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park will be closed. The park can be accessed from NW Walnut Blvd. The trail is closed as we connect utilities, sewer and water to the development. It will reopen in three weeks. The park remains accessible except for this specific trail.

Fair Oaks to Open in Fall

About a third of the way complete, the Fair Oaks connection is on track to be paved and open early this fall. It will extend Fair Oaks Drive from the Skyline West neighborhood to NW Walnut Drive, improving traffic flow and fire safety for the entire area.

AKS Engineering & Forestry LLC, which specializes in forestry and natural resource protection, oversaw a thoughtful and careful site-preparation process. Trees were carefully removed to preserve natural beauty, as well as meet state and federal wetland and water protection laws. They are being processed locally at Georgia-Pacific in Philomath, Sundance Lumber Co. in Eugene and RSG Forest Products in Molalla.

This phase of the project will augment and protect more than six acres of riparian habitat, including planting more than 8,500 native trees and shrubs to offset tree removal and enhance wildlife habitat.

Looking ahead

Once the Fair Oaks extension is complete, work will shift to Ponderosa Drive. Scheduling is being developed now and will be shared after details are finalized. Preliminary work is also underway on architectural design elements and phasing for the entire project. That work is projected to be complete by mid-2020.

Permits, streets and site development

We appreciate people not entering the construction site, which is marked with black and orange fencing. You are protecting both yourself and workers on the site. Thank you.

We’re also pleased with the numerous inquiries about the specific plans for lots and homes. We appreciate your interest and patience as we finalize our plans. We will have more specific information about lot availability, as well as style, size and home design by mid-2020.

Nature’s peace and tranquility

The project will nearly double the abundant green space in the neighborhood, adding 33 acres of designated open area adjacent to the 36-acre Martin Luther King Jr. Park. This versatile, enriching place will offer a mix of housing options arrayed on 52 acres with single-family houses and townhomes.

This neighborhood will afford its residents with the opportunity for a full, active lifestyle right outside the door. New trails will connect the entire community to existing park trails, making it effortless to pursue even more outdoor recreation.
